In our pastry project this year so in a couple of months, we can read a poem from Quebec City in city buses exciting that's right and now, let's see if we can contact Quebec City.

Uh Manchester am Odessa and want to wow wonderful and what else up to um well right now Most venues are closed The. Libraries Museums, theaters and performance halls, but the city is currently setting up small outdoor public squares with fireplaces and promoting a series of confronting activities with the help of the artistic community like on my movies and shows public arts self director historical tours uh and performances by phone. Sounds exciting and.

Uh we do wanna say that we absolutely enjoyed every video and it was really interesting getting to see some of the different perspectives uh from across the city of literature network. Uh yeah, you're a really talented bunch um this year we are being represented by Kevin McLean.

Who is a brilliant Edinburg baseball and more artist? He is the creative director of I am Loud productions, which runs a monthly uh spoken word night and does a lot to promote as spoken word artists.

Done a lot of great work there and we really hope that you enjoyed his performance with weed and uh how's your literary community doing. Really inspired by their responsibility of our community and how at the very beginning of lock down everyone can rally together to start creating these online spaces our book shops like Lighthouse Books, creativity the Lighthouse Lighthouse Light raft, which was a great space for our interviews and other kind of big seller chats.

So yeah, there were spaces like that and then obviously some of the highlights over this summer period of lockdown has been our festivals you know. Adam's large Edinburg International Book Festival, which is one of the big events of our year. We're still able AROMAMASLA liigeste ravi go ahead online, which was brilliant news for everyone and you know there was such a high level of engagement there and it was great to see some of that hope and you know creative spirit that big festivals bring about and talking about books, you know do for us um as well as that prior to that one of our earlier festivals was Kara, which is Scotland's Festival of Fantasy science fiction.

Horror writing and yeah, They did a really good job of getting their festival up this year online. It was it was it was brilliant uh turn around you know this was only their second year running and that also had a great level of engagement uh almost recently actually our Scottish International Storytelling Festival that just wrapped up in the 31st of October and yeah, they did a great job as well they had actually started trying to so they had their online live program, but they also combined that.

Some in-person events like tours as well, so it was really good to see some of the ways that the programs might be combined in the future and yeah, it was uh great for our community and Scotland as well.

Um yeah, and we're also looking forward to Scotland, which takes place this month that kick off on the sixteenth of November and that is run by the Scottish Trust and it's Scotland's national celebration of reading and writing in the country, and we definitely recommend. You check in with it if you can all of the information will be on the big trust website, but yeah, there's there's been a lot enjoy and there's a lot to look forward to and also it has been difficult and yet we're extremely proud of our creative and literary community.

What you really do have a lot of a lot going on uh what about Islam? What does it? It's really exciting and active obviously outside of. Coveted circumstances we usually have a lot of weekly and monthly events and platforms for spoken word artist and poet to take Forengie Fingers Brush Hurt in and it's such a dynamic active part of our city's literary scene really um actually one of the events is like run by Kevin and that takes place usually every month they also have created 1 hour sessions for the likes of Edinburgh, Prague and Brighton French festivals.

Um we also have other spoken word nights in the city that take place like Sonic Youth type books spoken word at night, the three CS from the horse's mice and a fingers. The list is kind of endless and there is just a lot of opportunities there and you know we're really looking forward to hopefully when in the future we can start reopening again seeing the team come to life because there are just so many talented artist out there and um these platforms you know really are invaluable for them well that.

Hello from the magical city of team, we are absolutely delighted to join you here in participating in summer twenty uh for those of you who don't know Manchester does have a great slot and poet and in July we invite these poets working in our city to submit their work and put themselves forward to be considered as Manchester representative for family vision.

We have a fantastic response to my poetry community and in order to help us to judge we called on Martin, who is a director at Common Word and Award-winning poet musician and playwright Keisha Thompson to judge alongside my.

All of the wonderful submissions that we received the judges voted unanimously in favor of Rodriguez, who is now our representative here in summer. Twenty so round of applause for and to all the poet in Manchester who submitted well a really really glad to hear that it has such a feedback in your city this level, We wanted to talk a little bit about our creative literature highlight since locked down happened and basically a little bit about what's been going on in man.

On we see Harja kaes valutab we could not pass up the opportunity to talk about a unique event, it's brand new on the literature scene that happened at the end of May uh as we were in all locked down and that was our city speaks. But when. And United stream Greater Manchester and essentially um it was an amazing celebration of word poetry from across the city that we had poets such as Tony Walsh, we've had Thompson we had lots of different poets, including Forengie Fingers Brush Hurt Williams himself stage and ultimately it was a um a huge celebration, but also it coincided with the peak of Black Lives matter.

Movement back in May and ended up being a great fundraiser and to support that as well as supporting the Manchester nightlife scene since we've gone into lock down and providing you know that Ray of hope that this was behind the nightlife scene and real, a real sign of strength in Manchester and the work that we can do here if anyone is interested in seeing that it is still available on YouTube and you search.

But um we definitely recommend to do that if you're interested in poetry well, what about the future? Yeah, what I'm looking forward to um next year uh is in February uh an international mother Language day um in Manchester there up to languages spoken um and next year with the fourth year uh that the city has come together to celebrate those languages and those cultures and twenty-one promises to be our biggest year yet uh we'll have events in libraries and museums and galleries and cafes and restaurants um and also.

Uh in the brand-new Manchester Poetry Library, which opens uh in the same month uh there will be a digital events as well as as socially events here in Manchester.

Let's keep that in mind and coming back to Islam. What do you like about Islam? Um one thing I absolutely love about slam poetry is the fact that there's so much variety uh there's something for everyone and one of my favorite things is to kind of be.
